We are Stacey and Gary Quimby and we are Living Free Alaska. We moved to the land of the midnight sun in the spring of 2021 after traveling to Alaska by RV for several summers and fell in love with everything Alaska. Gary and I have known each other since high school but we didn’t start dating until our late 30’s and were married 2 years later on Kauai, Hawaii on December 12th, 2012 at 12:12 in the afternoon. (We never have an excuse to forget our wedding anniversary!) We are blessed and fortunate enough to say we retired early in our 40’s and we took that time to travel extensively in our motorhome with over 50,000 miles driving around North America, going everywhere between the Florida Keys and Alaska. We spent several winters snowbirding in the Southwest US or Florida and then up to Alaska for the summer months. After 5 years on the road and a world pandemic stopping us in our tracks we decided it was time to make a major change.

Why Alaska? Why not!!! After traveling all over the Lower 48 , Canada and Alaska in our RV we knew that Alaska is where we wanted to call our next forever home after spending several summers here as visitors.  Within six months from decision day we managed to purchase 7+ acres of land in the MatSu Valley, plan and flawlessly execute all the logistics of moving during a world-wide pandemic and closed borders, and began building our Ultimate Alaskan Shop House that we now call our Houston Hideaway. With this move we also began to transition from our old RV travel name “Pau Hana Travels” to our new Alaska based business “RVing to Alaska”, where we provide educational guidance for those who wish to travel to Alaska by RV. After several years living in Alaska we found that our social media posts and videos were more focused living the Alaska lifestyle and so in early 2024 we once again decided to rebrand and start a second channel to focus on our Alaska Life content and hence here we are as Living Free Alaska.
